Youth attending The Celebration this year will have an opportunity to experience a side of the world championship show that few ever get to see.

The Tennessee Walking Horse Youth Association (TWHYA) will host a new Celebration Behind the Scenes Experience on Friday, September 4, providing young people with an exclusive tour of the people, places, and traditions that help make The Celebration one of the most recognized events in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry.

The program is open to all youth and is free of charge. Participants do not have to be members of the Tennessee Walking Horse Youth Association to attend.

The experience will begin at 12:30 p.m. with lunch before participants embark on a guided tour through several areas of the grounds that are typically not accessible to the public.

Participants will have the opportunity to head down the iconic chute and step into the center ring of the Big Oval while learning how ring personnel prepare for each performance. While in center ring, youth will also hear from some of this year's Celebration judges and learn firsthand what they look for when evaluating world championship competition.

Participants will also visit the trophy display area and discover how the hundreds of awards presented during The Celebration are organized and managed throughout the event.

Along the way, youth will hear from several individuals who play key roles in making The Celebration a success. Featured speakers will include Celebration organist J. Brantley, announcer Mark Farrar, and show chairman Charles McDonald, each sharing insights about their responsibilities and experiences during the show.

The tour will also include a visit to the press box and spotlight area, offering a unique perspective of the arena from above. Participants will then stop by the Celebration trophy case and main office, where they will meet Celebration CEO Warren Wells and learn more about the organization's operations.

Another highlight of the experience will be a visit to the Optimist Club Donut Booth, where participants will learn how the group's world-famous donuts are made. The event will conclude with a special photo opportunity on the championship bricks, where official winner photographs have been taken through the years.

TWHYA leaders hope the program will give young people a greater appreciation for the many volunteers, officials, staff members, and traditions that contribute to The Celebration each year while also providing an educational and memorable experience.

The Celebration Behind the Scenes Experience is free and open to all youth, with lunch provided. Advance registration is encouraged.
