The Walking Horse Trainers’ Association (WHTA) and its Youth Council will manage the WHTA Fireworks & Freedom Horse Show, scheduled for July 1-2 at the Bedford County Agricultural Center.
“We look forward to hosting a horse show that helps celebrate one of the biggest and most important weeks of the year for the Tennessee Walking Horse,” said WHTA President Spencer Benedict.
Benedict noted that the week’s schedule offers exhibitors and fans a unique opportunity to enjoy multiple events while celebrating both the Tennessee Walking Horse and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
“We appreciate the efforts of everyone who helped make this possible,” said Benedict. “With the new Prodigy qualifiers on Monday night, the fellowship street party on Tuesday night and four nights of horse shows, it promises to be a tremendous week for our industry.”
The Fourth of July week horse shows have long been a tradition in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry, taking place over the years in communities including Shelbyville, Woodbury, McMinnville and Bethesda. This announcement provides clarity for owners, trainers, exhibitors and fans regarding the week’s show schedule.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all the horse show managers who worked together to make this week a celebration of our horse,” Benedict added. “We encourage trainers and exhibitors to support all of the horse shows this week, as well as horse shows in their local communities. These events are the lifeblood of our industry.”
