John (Johnny) David Cook Jr., was on born October 7, 1960, and passed from this life on August 19, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eloise Cook (Dudley), He is survived by one brother, Ronnie Cook (Sherri) of Tollsboro, KY, Uncle Jim Cook of Union, KY Uncle Richard Cook (Rita) of Union, KY, Uncle Neil Dudley of NC and several cousins.

Johnny was a life long resident of Union, KY and known by many, near and far, as a good and dear friend. In his younger years he was the proprietor of Johnny Cook Stables, where he bred, raised and trained his beloved Tennessee Walking Horses. In later years he went on to own his own blacksmith business which required him to travel much of the time. It was during these travels he made many friends across Kentucky and neighboring states. Eventually, the wear and tear from blacksmithing took its toll on him and Johnny once more found himself having to adjust to life’s demands by taking on different kinds of work. Most recently he had been working for the Boone County school system.

When not working his favorite past times were eating good food, taking care of his cats, doing yard work and visiting with all the family and friends he’d accumulated over the years.

In a world where it’s rare to be met with a smile and share an easy laugh, to say Johnny will be missed is an understatement.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Union Rice Cemetery, Union, KY.  All are welcome to meet at the cemetery to offer support as John is laid to rest.
